With a CEO known for introducing reality television as a genre to the USA, Mark Burnett Productions (MBP) is a leading production company in the world of primetime non-fiction television.

MBP revolutionized television with hits such as The Apprentice, Eco-Challenge, Survivor, The Contender and others.

This eponymous production company also set up The Restaurant, The Casino, Rock Star, Combat Missions, Martha Stewart, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?, and Pirate Master. There is also a collaboration with Steven Spielberg on a FOX show titled On the Lot, which will grant one out of 16 contestants an exclusive Hollywood deal with DreamWorks and Spielberg. The show premiered in May 2007.

Winner of two Emmy Awards, MBP also successfully reintroduced product placement as an integral part of each of its shows and has garnered over 40 33 Emmy nominations since 2001.

Mark Burnett was listed as the #1 Most Valuable Player by TV Guide and in Time Magazine's Top 100 most influential people in the world today.

The New York Times reported on April 25, 2007 that in 2008, MB will produce a show entitled Independent in which players will compete for $1,000,000 with which to finance an independent bid for the United States presidency.
