KPMG, an international audit firm in its 2007 banking industry service satisfaction report based on customer survey named Bank PHB among Nigeria’s top three banks with the most convenient services.

Research International (RI), the world’s largest market research agency with offices in over 70 countries across 5 continents, reports that Bank PHB’s advertising and communication has the highest awareness amongst the banked and un-banked publics for the first quarter of 2007.

A Socially Responsible Organization
Bank PHB is actively engaged responsibly with the Nigerian society locally while uplifting the country’s image internationally. Bank PHB sponsored the live broadcast of the 2006 World Cup, identifying with the deep passion Nigerians have for football. Bank PHB is currently implementing a life-changing project, Bank PHB National Scholars scheme, which involves building libraries in selected public secondary schools across Nigeria and providing a comprehensive scholarship scheme for indigent students in public secondary schools across the country.

Nigeria’s Fastest Growing Bank
With total assets increasing at a cumulative average growth rate 103 per cent in the last five years, about four times higher than the average growth rate of 27 percent recorded in the same period by the Nigerian banking industry, Bank PHB has emerged as Nigeria’s fastest growing bank. Bank PHB’s total assets and contingents stood at N480 billion as June 2007. This represents an average year on year growth rate of 155 percent, the second consecutive year the bank is more than doubling its assets.

The significance of the growth rate of Bank PHB can be measured against Nigeria’s economic growth rate that has averaged six percent within the same period and the average banking industry growth rate of 27 percent in the last five years. The faster growth rate of Bank PHB against the industry growth rate means it now ranks number eight in the Nigerian banking industry based on total assets and number seven based on profitability and earnings. The top ten banks in Nigeria control about 71 percent of the industry market share based on CBN data.

Bank PHB, also with current total market capitalization of N205 billion ranks among the top 20 most capitalized companies on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) which together control an average of 70 percent total market value and deals.

Bank PHB’s Engagement With The Future
Bank PHB is consistently engaging with the youth as a testimony to its commitment to creating a strong leadership culture, enduring entrepreneurial skills and laying a foundation for sustainable investment and socially responsible organization.

Bank PHB flagship engagement with the Nigerian youth is the National Scholars Scheme. Through Bank PHB National Scholars Scheme, the bank is building fully stocked modern libraries in selected secondary schools in each state of the federation.
This is complemented with a comprehensive scholarship programme which offers support to 20 indigent students in the same selected schools.

The Intern
The Intern was Nigeria’s first Business reality TV show in Nigeria. It ran for 13 weeks and inspired millions of Nigerian youths on the beauty and rewards of entrepreneurship, innovation, marketing and leadership skills as well as negotiation skills. It also revealed the intrigues and excitement that exists in corporate board rooms. Ten Nigerian youths showcased their talents at the end of which all ten were offered employment with Bank PHB. Two declined and went on to start their own businesses tapping into the skills learned during the programme.

IYCE
The International Young Creative Entrepreneur programme (IYCE) initiated by the British council rewards talented young and creative entrepreneurs aged between 25 and 35 years. Bank PHB is sponsoring this laudable initiative of the British Council as a means finding new talents in Nigeria fast growing creative industry.

The Fulbright Scholarship
This is the most prestigious scholarship programme of the United States government. Bank PHB is the first Nigerian company to be invited by the US consulate to partner with the US government in sponsoring this scholarship targeted at very intelligent young Nigerians to pursue a selected academic programme in a US university. Sponsoring the Fulbright scholarship means intelligent young Nigerians can pursue their academic dreams in some of the best schools in the world.

Apprentice Africa
This is the foremost business reality TV show in the world. Bank PHB starting February 2008 will bring to Africa the African adaptation of this hit reality show with participants from 18 different African countries. Apprentice Africa is set celebrate the African youth while inspiring strong leadership culture, innovation, and entrepreneurial skills.
