The Fist, the Thunderbolt, the distinctive purple and yellow colours. These eye-catching elements make up the STORM logo, which has become recognized as a stamp of great entertainment, whether in music or television.

For nearly two decades, STORM has been the name behind some of the most innovative and successful entertainment ventures in Nigeria. Renamed STORM Media & Entertainment Group in 2007, the company has grown into a multi-media conglomerate consisting of Storm Music, Storm Vision, IBST (media facilities and procurement) and Storm Interactive a joint venture company with Text Nigeria.

To date, STORM has handled literally hundreds of events, ranging from Channel O BBN Eviction parties to Idols West Africa gala shows, club raves to music tours, in-bar promotions to live concerts, fashion shows, album launches, press junkets and much more.

STORM Records was born in 1992 and immediately made huge impact on the music industry by nurturing and signing Junior and Pretty, the originators of the pidgin-infused rap that now fills the Nigerian airwaves.

STORM boasts a stable of innovative and award-winning artists include Dare Art Alade, Ikechukwu, Sasha, GT the Guitarman, Jazzman Olofin, Naeto C, ELDee, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Alaye and 2Shotz. STORM Records artists have performed to growing acclaim both locally and internationally in the UK, US, West and South Africa airwaves.

Going forward, STORM plans to put greater emphasis on digital music services, taking advantage of the opportunities that digital technology offers. The company’s digital platform will be managed in conjunction with STORM Interactive, the sms and web application service provider that forms part of the STORM Media & Entertainment Group.

In 2005, the television arm of the business was reborn as Storm Vision, a joint venture between Storm Productions and IBST (producers of Y’ello TV, National Lottery Game Show among others), headed by industry veteran Remi Ogunpitan (now Managing Director of Storm Media & Entertainment Group). Storm Vision signed an exclusive partnership with Endemol Nigeria, and together, co-produced Doctor’s Quarters (MNET), Amstel Malta Box Office (NTA & STV) Play TV (STV) and the mammoth hit Big Brother Nigeria.

Storm Vision was also behind the e-news show The Scoop (NTA2 Ch 5) and has produced visual content for public sector agencies e.g. Ministry of Information and has partnered with other organisations on the production of their branded TV content, e.g. Urban Massive (Ch O), MTN Homecoming. Production is currently in progress for The Apprentice Africa, Dragon’s Den and a Game show for a leading telecommunications operator in Nigeria.

As the Nigerian entertainment industry continues to evolve and expand, STORM Media & Entertainment Group is sure to be at the vanguard, delivering high quality productions, breaking new ground and helping to redefine Naija popular culture. No matter what changes lie ahead, STORM’s founding principles remain the same – Passion, Professionalism and Proudly Nigerian.
